Windows 11 Upgrade

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to inform the user on what to expect from the Windows 11 upgrade process and how to complete the upgrade.

Process

This all takes place within the Windows Update section in the Settings app (Start Button, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update).

There are two steps to the upgrade process:

Download and install of the Windows 11 upgrade files
- This will run in the background, so you will be able to keep working during this step
- The estimated time this can take should be within 45 minutes to 1.5 hours
- Once this is finished, you will see the pending restart status
Restart the device.
- This is when there will be downtime as the machine will be unusable during the final application of Windows 11
- The estimated time this can take should be within 30 minutes to 45 minutes

You will not lose your files during the Windows upgrade process
